Mrs. Lisa Encke is the Director of The Arts, moderator of NAHS, and art teacher at IHA for the past 30+ years. She received a B.A. degree in art education from Montclair State University and an M.S. degree in education from Bank Street College of Education and Parsons School of Design in school administration with a visual art focus.
Mrs. Encke said she is grateful to work in a community that is rooted in tradition while also having a vision for the future. "As an art educator, it is my goal to reflect the national standards and teach our students to respect others, start a dialogue, experiment, observe, find their voice, self-evaluate, clean up, reflect on their work, embrace diversity, persevere, appreciate beauty, break away from stereotypes, envision solutions, value aesthetics, see another point of view, and innovate. These skills will translate well into all aspects of their lives. I am fortunate to work in an environment that supports these goals."
