Union City is the second most densely populated city in the country, and this pantry provides a bag of groceries for approximately 200 families a month, so it is in constant need of more food. IHA students generously brought in canned or boxed foods including pasta, tuna, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, sauce, beans, and rice.
“This food pantry is a necessity in the community,” Lauren said. “Many of the families that come for food are the ‘working poor,’ elderly on a fixed income, or unemployed looking for jobs. The food pantry also provides food for a local men’s shelter whenever possible.”
Lauren and her family, who have worked with the pantry for many years, transported all of the donations in early February. Thank you to Lauren, the Foote Family, and the IHA community for all of your generosity!
