Kristen was recognized for her computing-related aspirations and her demonstrated, outstanding aptitude and interest in information technology/computing; solid leadership ability; good academic history; and plans for post-secondary education. She was one of almost 2,100 young women who was an Affiliate Award recipient this season.
Kristen has shown outstanding skills in her Computer Programming, Computer Applications, and Java Programming classes at IHA, and she is the project lead in the Robotics and Applied Engineering clubs. She said she felt incredibly accomplished when she found out she won the award, as it gave her the confidence that she had the ability to be successful in computer science.
"IHA’s STEM program has given me so many opportunities to expand my knowledge of computer science," Kristen said. "Ever since arriving at IHA, I have been able to take technology classes that allow me to explore my interests. STEM at IHA offers all of these amazing programs and it is truly an outstanding cohort of which to be a part."
