The Galdas were sworn in with ten other attorneys from the Bergen County Bar Association at the ceremony, which took place in the East Conference Room at the U.S. Supreme Court. Each attorney was permitted to have one guest in the audience for observation and they were able to stay and observe oral arguments on two cases that were before the court following the swearing ceremony. Denyse and Bill brought their daughters, Caroline Galda’09, who is presently in a two-year honors program at New York Law School, and Catherine Galda.
“With the recent passing of Judge Scalia, the bench and his chair were draped in black mourning bunting,” Denyse said. “Justice Clarence Thomas also asked a question of one of the attorneys during their oral argument. This proved to be a historic moment, as he had not asked a question from the bench in ten years. We were eyewitnesses to it. It was quite a memorable day!”
