The team, made up of four freshmen and five sophomores, competed in the Bridge Building, Cell Biology, Chemistry Lab, Disease Detectives, Fossils, and Write-It-Do-It Events.
Applied Engineering Club members Cassie Mitsinikos'18, Kristen Kjetsaa'18, Emily Koehne'18, Eilis McLaughlin'18, and Olivia Najjar'19 designed and built a balsa wood truss style bridge that withstood a full load of sand weight without compromising the structure during competition testing.
Myra Chaudhry'19 and Rebecca Nadler'19 put their biology knowledge to the test during the Cell Biology and Disease Detectives team events. Heather Farrell'18 and Cassie Mitsinikos'18 paired up to compete in both the Chemistry Lab and Write-It-Do-It events. Fionah Lynch'19 competed in the Fossils event.
The Science Olympiad is co-moderated by biology teachers, Ms. Lauren Fitzgerald and Mrs. Erika Brennan, and technology teacher, Mrs. Sharon Tassely Mistretta'75.
