Victoria Cali'15 Accepted as Media Fellow

As Victoria follows a special four-year track at High Point University, she will take classes as cohorts with the other Media Fellows and participate in living/learning communities with other classmates within the program. She will also have guaranteed media experiences in both New York City and Los Angeles.

“During my freshman year, I engage in meaningful service in the town of High Point, developing a relationship with a major nonprofit agency,” Victoria explained. “In my sophomore year, I will be traveling to Los Angeles in July to study with a group of producers, writers, executives, and entrepreneurs in the professional field. In the summer going into my junior year, I have internship opportunities at national media companies. I am very excited to have been accepted into the finest state-of-the-art school of communication in the country!”

Over the course of the next four years, Victoria will be working closely with the other Media Fellows and professors as she completes her degree, majoring in sports communication. After being accepted into the program, she said she felt ecstatic.

“My acceptance has shown me that hard works does pay off,” she explained. “Goals and dreams are reachable, no matter how unrealistic they may seem. To have a passion for something that interests you makes you want to go after a goal that much more.” Victoria said IHA prepared her well for college, and helped her to get into this special program due to “the advanced TV studio, editing computers, camera equipment, and excellent teaching staff.”

“Two teachers within the Communications Department who have taught me the most and who have shaped me into the young woman that I am today are Mrs. Brodeur and Mrs. Mongelli,” she said. “Mrs. Cervini, who is involved in the Communications Department, has also helped in preparing me.”

Victoria shared that her communication teachers spent countless hours of their own time teaching her information that she will take with her to college and that they have motivated her both inside and outside of the classroom. Additionally, IHA's advanced curriculum has challenged her to become a better communications student.

“Over these past four years, I worked on video projects that college students would normally be doing,” Victoria said. “I will take all that I have learned from Immaculate Heart Academy and bring it with me into this new chapter of my life. I thank IHA for giving me endless opportunities and making me into the person I am today.”
