New IHA Records

Members of the IHA Winter Track Team shattered school records in the 4x400m, 4x200m, 55m, 60m, 200m, and 400m indoor track races.

Elizabeth Burgess ʼ25, Piper Portacio ʼ25, Veronica Costello ʼ25, and Paige Burgess ʼ25 (pictured left to right in group photo) earned a silver medal at the Bergen County Championships in February 2025, and in the process broke a school record which has stood since 2008! The team finished the 4x400m with a time of 4:02:12. The previous record of 4:02:24 was set by Kaitlyn Cooney ‘08, Michelle McCourt ʼ10, Sarah Pagano ʼ09, and Julie Sinkovitz ʼ10 at the Eastern States in 2008.

Elizabeth Burgess ʼ25, Piper Portacio ʼ25, Paige Burgess ʼ25, and Zoey Orlando '28 broke the IHA record in the 4x200 earlier in the season with a time of 1:46.51. The previous record of 1:46.78 was set in 2024 by Piper Portacio ʼ25, Abigail Romero '24, Paige Burgess ʼ25, and Sophia Reina Ditchfield-Agboh '24.

Piper Portacio ʼ25 broke four additional individual school records in the 55m, 60m, 200m, and 400m. Piper ran 7.12 in the 55m, breaking a 24-year-old school record set by Courtney Cubicciotti '01, and the 60m in 7.82, breaking a previous record set by Olivia Tacconi '23. Piper also broke IHA school records in the 200m and 400m previously set by Jennifer Pash ʼ12. Piper ran the 200m with a time of 25.03 and the 400m in a time of 58.10.
