As graduates of Immaculate Heart Academy, our high school years embedded in each of us a desire to be lifelong students: to seek through interest, curiosity, and openness a way to respond to challenges within our world, even when topics are difficult or even uncomfortable. As we learned in those formative years, listen to learn and learn to listen.
Join us as we read and discuss the landmark book, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Isabel Wilkerson. Her acclaimed book, The Warmth of Other Suns, follows the history of the Great Migration between 1915-1970. Her parents left Virginia in the Great Migration and her father was a celebrated Tuskegee Airman during World War II.
“We are responsible for our own ignorance or, with time and openhearted enlightenment, our own wisdom.”
- Isabel Wilkerson, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents
