The week kicked off on Monday with a visit from alumna guest speaker, Kayla Kaspar'08. Kayla, a mechanical engineer, spoke to STEM students and Applied Engineering Club students about her path becoming an engineer and what she does now-- designing and marketing medical devices worldwide. Kayla said there are still mostly men in the field of engineering and encouraged our girls to pursue their dreams. Thank you to Kayla for sharing her expertise with our future engineers!
On Wednesday, February 12, IHA STEM students served as judges at a local STEM Fair at St. Elizabeth's School in Wyckoff. The IHA students had the opportunity to judge the 6th-8th grade projects that represented ways to solve real-world problems.
Finally, on Thursday, February 13, our Applied Engineering Club students sponsored IHA's annual Engineering Challenge where students were tasked with designing, building, and testing a scaled model of a catapult. The two winning teams launched their object the furthest and most accurately.
